“Like to Hike”

About Us

Our association “Begegnung in Europa – Verein zur Verständigung e.V.” (European Encounters – Association for Mutual Comprehension) was founded in Munich in 1994 by a Franco-German circle of friends. It has now just under 100 members, mainly from Germany, but also from other parts of Europe. Its two-member board currently consists of Martina Hennegriff and Hyazintha Mang.

Our aim is to promote encounters and understanding between the people of Europe. With this in mind we seek co-operation with like-minded groups and organisations.

We organise walking holidays together with local walking clubs; experienced local guides show us the most beautiful destinations of their regions. Our local partners always welcome us with warm hospitality – meeting them is what makes our stays so special, and what is really behind our walking holidays. Anyone who is open-minded, outgoing and interested in the country visited is welcome to our walking holidays. Our association‘s experienced bilingual guides take good care of all participants.

All our walking holidays in Germany and abroad as well as our events and outings in and around Munich are organised by volunteers. Our activities are also open to non-members.

In future we envisage to expand our activities to other European countries and regions.
